What is Recreation Therapy?


An evidence based practice utilizing recreation and activity based interventions to functionally improve the quality of life of children and adults with disabilties and chronic illness. Through various interventions, focus is placed on overall health and wellness of the individuals being served. 



The purpose of recreation therapy is to improve or maintain quality of life cognitively, physically, emotionally, and socially. With services provided by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist individuals will develop skills to help facilitate a full participation in life!

Participating in recreational and leisure activities on a daily basis can help improve mood, lower stress, build confidence and self-esteem, and improve physical well-being!
